Hello Merkel,
I'm wondering if anyone remembers a young man who gave his life for his country during World War II who's name was Wade Ensminger. Wade was from Merkel and died on Christmas Day 1944.

Do you have any records for the City of
Trent. We are trying to find out some information about our ancestors of the Archer Family and the Falkner Family that lived in Trent about 100 years ago. Do you know where the Trent records are kept? Any help or suggestions will be sincerely appreciated. krcpa1@flash.net /thanks/tom kirk/fort worth, texas |

Wow...Merkel seems like so long ago! I always said I would never go back, but for the two years I lived in Abilene again, it was so nice to be close to familiar places, people and things. There's just something about the town where one grows up! Hope all is well.

You can listen in on the Badgers' Varsity games live here:
http://www.audiosportsonline.net/LS/Merkel/2008Football.htm Just copy/paste it in your address line. I listen in every week. Fantastic result against Goldthwaite Friday. Badgers definately raised the bar! Cisco will be the tough one. But I think the Badgers could make the playoffs again this year. |

Could you put me in contact with someone in Merkel who might assist me with genealogical information.
My mother was Ona Faye Rose, born Jan 4, 1908 in Merkel, Taylor, Texas. She probably moved away in the early 1930's. In the 1920 census of Merkel, my grandfather Arthur C. Rose is listed as Propriator of aRetail Dry Goods Store (supposed to be named Rose's). Sure would love information about this establishment. Thanks for whatever help you might be. Rosemary Kelley
