you need to update your webpage why dont you put some pictures of merkel on the web every one would like that i would like that because i lived there for 17 years from the time i was born in 1960 until i left in 1977 and a lot of things have changed i remember the blast that they had in the 60s i would like to see the fire trucks that were damaged and a lot of other pictures like that so please update and ad pictures of our hometown merkel

My father (Thomas H Webb) passed away 27 Aug 2000. I found on line that he was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, TX . When I looked though all the names on the list I found my grandmother Lillie Bell Webb and my grandfather W.W. Webb. Could it be he just hasn't been added to this list? Or is there another cemetery near by? Thanks so much for any help you can offer. IF he is there I would like to help in some way to maintain his grave.

I'm looking for any information on a Jerry Wayne Barnes. I know he was born in Merkel. Sadly he passed away almost a month ago. He was a great man. He was born in 1944 i believe. He was a great friend and neighbor. I would just like to know any info. on his family, or just any stories of him. It was left a mystery to us about his past. I am looking for relatives of my mother's who live or lived in Merkel. My mother's name was Mae Belle Reynolds Callahan. She was born to John W. Reynolds in 1919 and married Travis John Callahan in 1933 and moved to California in 1935. I believe she was one of 8 children. Hello I am stationed in germany currently. I just bought the house on 211 oak street. I was wondering if anyone from this town have information on jobs in merkel. I was born and raised in abilene but I would rather find a job in merkel. I am 28 and my job in the military is radar repair. I doubt ill be able to find that kind of job in merkel but anything would be great. I cant wait to become part of this comunity. Thanks in advance

I am trying to find information on location of a mercantile store operating in Merkel in the early 1900's. It was owned by grandfather's family and owned by the Hutcheson's. It was right in town. Not sure of the name other than maybe Hutcheson's Mercantile. They lived in a 2 story house on a corner lot near the high school at the time. Any help would be appreciated.

My fiance is being stationed in Abilene, Texas. (Feb 2010) We are looking for a rental in the outskirts of Abilene. We have a middle school age child and need an environment and school system that is not largely populated. (Less then 5,000 people) We are community involved type of people...volunteering and scouts. We really need help finding a rental. As well as a friendly family to welcome us when we get there.

The Merkel young men did Merkel proud against Brady. What a team.
Kudos to the coaches who brought these young men on into a strong and cohesive body that scared the living daylights out of some of the best in the west.
The press had to acknowledge that they were the most underrated team in the Big Country.
